This weekend, five riders from Team Chronomaster will be taking part in the inaugural Dave Hitchen Two Day road race, hosted by St Helens CRC. This event will include three stages, where teams will compete for several jerseys on offer. There are some big name sponsors associated with the event, which has brought a very generous prize pot, and I am sure it will be a very well supported event.
There is also a great field of riders signed up, with some the the North West’s finest representing their teams. Abilities ranging from 3rd category up to elite will all be competing for honours in the following categories:
- Best overall (GC)
- Best Elite Rider
- Best 1st Category Rider
- Best 2nd Category Rider
- Best 3rd Category Rider
- Best Junior Rider
- The Lanterne Rouge
Plus prizes and points for each stage winner. So there is something for everyone this weekend!
Stage 1 (Day 1) – Team Time trial.
Two laps of the Col De Pimbo course covering 4 miles. With several teams fielding experienced testers, this prologue stage will definitely see them head up the leader board heading into stage 2.
Stage 2 (Day 1) – Road Race.
Staying on the same course, this is the familiar Tour De Pimbo – a 50 mile race around the circuit. being a flat, and very fast course, it will be difficult for breaks to establish themselves.
Stage 3 (Day 2) – road Race.
On day 2, the riders head out at 9am onto a course not used for over 20 years. Totalling 65 miles, this rolling course is sure to test the legs and will provide a fantastic finish in the GC battle.
The weather (so far) is looking good, and the team are really looking forward to this event.
We hope to see you there!
